So these days you have sites like Fiverr where you can get design services for, yep you guessed it - a fiver. But what does a fiver really get you?

It's easy to be tempted - after all, it's only a fiver - if you hate it, you can always cut your losses and try to find somewhere else to get your design work done. That's the rationale I've heard from many people who have found cut price ways to get design work for cheap. Here are some reasons why I think you should look to invest more - and in the spirit of the site that inspired this article, I've given you five(r) of them.

1. Your Design is the first connection with your customers

I can't think of a time where your first engagement with a customer won't involve design. Most likely they're seeing your website, or your bricks and mortar store, or an advertisement - something you designed. You only get one chance to make a first impression, and a picture is worth a thousand words. So combining those two sayings - you get a split second to impart a thousand words onto your potential customer simply by showing them something. Don't you want that something to be amazing and inspire people to do business with you?

2. You want a professional, creative Designer

That probably shouldn't say 'want' - you need a great designer. They will get the job done quicker, have more fantastic ideas that will give you an even better result and they will give you a killer aesthetic that will put your brand on the best footing possible when you interact with customers.

3. Good Design makes you appear credible

You know when you Google something, and you land on a shonky looking web page like this one here, and you bounce off just seconds later because it is such an eyesore? Ok, the example doesn't have to be quite as bad as that one - but a dodgy looking design will put off your users. By contrast, a beautifully designed, intuitive and interesting website will show your potential customers that you're impressive, serious and that they should work with you. Winning!

4. Not just anyone can do Design

Sure, anyone could technically get access to the software necessary to design and probably even brush up on some elementary skills. But design is much, much more than simply creating images and shapes and colours. Design has meaning - it needs to convey your brand identity, understand your audience and speak to them, and differentiate you from your competitors. It has strategy and ideas built into it. Just because you have a word processor doesn't make you Shakespeare - and design is no different.

5. A great Design will last

And finally, if I can't appeal to your head or heart - I'll appeal to your bottom line. A great design will stand the test of time and mean you don't need to invest in a new design so quickly. So you get more bang for your buck. We love great design here at FABRIC8 and we're not afraid to say we won't do it for a fiver. We hope you now understand that achieving the right design for your brand and business is a worthwhile investment, and are ready to spend a little more!
